What is Kyoto Event?:
Kyoto Event is a Japanese language exchange and Cuturel Party held every Thursday, from 7pm till 11:30pm at the Slug and Lettuce Pub (Leicester Square, London)
Kyoto Event is a Social event with Cultural talks, presenations and performances
It is an opportunity for:
* Japanese people living in UK to practice their English language skills and build up their knowledge about British Culture
* Non- Japanese to practice their Japanese language skills and learn about the Japanese Culture
* meeting new people and building up a network of good friends
* learning or participating in the Culture Sessions
* Anyone who wants to make new friends and learn about other cultures
* having fun and enjoying a drink with a cultural talks and performances
Does it cost me anything to attend:
Regular Events with Culture talks
* £1 for non-European students / £2 for others
Special events with performances
* £2 for non-European / £3 for others
* no membership needed for new members. We welcome everyone who has interest in cultures and making friends (We do refuse admission or membership for the ones who do not comply with our rules)
What is expected of me at Kyoto Event:
Participants at Kyoto Event are expected to:
* Help create a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere to all
* Be friendly to new members
* Create an atmosphere of dialogue and exchange of information
* Have fun and encourage others to come along!
* Respect other attendees' boundaries, cultures and wishes
* Talk to various people and join our network of regualr friends at Kyoto events
* Tour objectives to attend are online with Kyoto event's ones
* Give the organisers of any feedback or concerns
What is extra:
The culture talks and performances are delivered by anyone who wish to share information, skills or entertain the rest of attendees. The topics can be various and may cover other cultures. the slot can be between 10 min to 30 min and may be more than one slot in one event. We usually aim to have two slots, one about Japanese culture (up to 15 min) and the other one about British and other cultures

* Mainly social event - no culture talks
18 February,
* Belly Dance performance by Asaki & Shaza ( 2 professional belly dancers) and Asaki's students on 18 February. more information about Asaki & Shaza: Belly Dance Performance
25 February,
* Japanese spiritual elements The Zodiac based on the Chinese calendar, Japanese superstitions and Shinto -by Pauline (An American public speaker)
04 March,
* British Theatre, from Shakespeare to the West end, strait plays to Panto. The culture of theater how it developed, who it was for and the seasonal significance of theater viewing
11 March,
* Japanese calligraphy (Shodou) is a specialized art using a brush and black ink to write Japanese characters. There are more than 50,000 characters; each character has a special meaning. At Kyoto Event, you will be able to try as Misato will teach you how to do it!!!
* HIBISCGYARU - UK Gyarusa/Gal Circle- Culture talk about the Gal Circle, their fashion, activities and the dance. The Gal Circle have also their dance and will have a dance demonstration
